How to Reset a Forgotten Microsoft Password

This document outlines step-by-step instructions for resetting a forgotten Microsoft account password using the Microsoft password reset portal.

Step 1: Open Any Browser

Open your preferred web browser (e.g., Safari, Chrome, Edge).

Step 2: Go to the Password Reset Page

In the address bar, type:
passwordreset.microsoftonline.com
Then press Enter.

Step 3: Enter BIG Email and CAPTCHA

Enter your email address. Complete the CAPTCHA as displayed on the screen.

Step 4: Verify your identity

For your protection, Microsoft must verify your identity before allowing you to reset your password.

• Choose how you would like to receive a verification code from the available options.
• Follow the prompts to complete verification.

Step 5: Create a New Password

Enter a new password. It must:
